Urgent Note for My Son Langston

to be pinned to his collar upon age eleven

This is Langston.
He likes mutant turtles and the ghost grey
power ranger please
do not
shoot him he
is your new friend he
will jump in your arms
and ask
to be swung
in circles not
in noose spin

please he
is scared of very loud
noises and he would not
respond to a shot he
might just fall in dirt
infra-red and not move at

all like when we play ninjas and he is the blackest
because he say that’s the baddest

and I say no but
he say yes so
I’m the blackest

so how to make easy
topic better get meta
and none of this race shit really matters so
low I talk hawking but he waffles
and I don’t give a
fuck bout machines
stretched in time
I just need Langston man boy
demon home
in time please don’t

kill him he likes pancakes not waffles
like on Sundays when he asks for extra syrup
I pour on so much syrup
yes please
don’t fire we hymn strange hold
hands I put him on hips even
altars big
ger black
er and scary

arms scare
crow my neck brow clammy
while he mouths the words mom and god
round his tongue, spun like a fat marble.

And I know this note is a little long, but I just thought you should know that
this is Langston
and I love him he absorbs all the light
and so can you I mean yes
he’s not an angel stole once you learned his
lesson well he

is or might be volatile please
return home safe so I can see the blue white
light from top peaks of his covers pulled tight
round his door bends blackbodies soft
sweet pulse a blue night

Romantic Stars – Poem by Gary D. Rick

Romantic Stars

She said, You have to get me out of here.
Grabbing me close to whisper in my ear.
I realize you’re only what I hold dear,
And losing you forever is my only fear.
Along with the back ground of acoustical guitars,
You’re sending me sailing through heavenly stars.

Now, I have come up with the greatest notion.
Lets take a vacation over looking the ocean.
Rubbing in romance with sun tan lotion,
Our senses can come alive with the scenic potion.
We’ll order champagne from one of the bars,
And toast to the food life under brightly lit stars.

Another idea has just rattled my brain.
Tickets for two on a slow moving train.
To view water falls in upper State, Maine.
Then walk hand in hand down some long shady lane.
Out in the wilderness away from all cars,
We both can make wishes on fast shooting stars.

Deep down inside is a raging hot fire.
You have fast become my hearts desire
Like the stars in the sky you’re lifting me higher.
If I said it different, you can call me a liar.
When our first child is born and I’m handing cigars.
Deep in my eyes is where you’ll see all the stars.

Visual Poetry: Romantic “Being extremely cold…”

by Theresa Williams

Visual Poetry:   Visual poems use images as poetry.  It is poetry that uses media and language.  The following poem uses visual elements about romance.

This poem is visual poetry about romance and robots.  It is also about health and humans.  The following title explains romance for the robot and human.

Visual Poetry:  “Being extremely cold and damp was the next thing I became aware of…”

Video poetry is video and visual poetry.  It is also called media poetry.  (It uses technology. )

Visual poetry and video poetry showcase elements of the poem such as visual images.  It also uses sound art.

A great visual poem will go above words that are just spoken or written.  You may be just starting out or already a professional… anyone can use visual poetry.  It’s time to create great digital art!

Good luck!

Thank you for reading

If You Forget Me – Poem by Pablo Neruda

“If You Forget Me”

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.
