If You Forget Me – Poem by Pablo Neruda

“If You Forget Me”

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

“LAST TIME I SAW YOU”by a Guest Poet-Jillian Joyce of Scotland

“Last Time I Saw You”

You lived on Bank Street

third floor, top left –

I remember the door,

holding my breath,

as it opened

and you’d appear

with a book in your hand,

a cutting remark

on the tip of your tongue.

Naked one time;

still slippy

from the water I could hear gurgling in the drain.

Your flatmate watching as I

slip awkwardly from your grasp,

face blank as stone

while we play stoner games

I keep winning;

laughing all the way back out your door.

Later you drag me to a café

with your new and far more suitable girlfriend.

She and I studiously avoid each other’s gaze

( thanking god for the hangers-on who are tripping balls, Man)

me, because she is so much prettier than I:

her, because she is so far above me

she might be riding on a cloud.

I watch her flawless mouth

sip bitter expresso,

marble with anxiety

over who will be next?

(You have already jokingly informed me

you are working very hard on one of her friends.)

The urge to gorge on the pain of others

flows strong along old Bavarian waterways.

The forests around familiar towns

are filling up with graves.

In another life

where painful truths

coexist with uneasy truce,

I tried to tell you, last time I saw you.

‘You frighten me,’

I said, (or words to that effect)

‘With your appetites and your disregard for the rest of the human race,’

but you just laughed and rolled over and went back to sleep

A Very Romantic poetry:-“HAN YE MOHABBAT HAI” (YES IT IS LOVE)

     “HAN YE MOHABBAT HAI”

Hota hai Jab Zikra-e-Mohabbat to Naam Zehan me Tera Aata hai,
Mohabbat Mayne Sirf Tu hai Mujhe To bas Inta Samajh Aata hai .

Main khud bhi Aazma Leta hun Apni Mohabbat ki Dewangi Kabhi,
Ki band Karun Jaise hi Aankhen To Chehra Tera Nazar Aata hai.

Hai Mujhko is Baat ka Ahsaas ki Maujood nahi hai Paas Tu mere,
To Phir Pehlu me Baitha ho Tu Jaise dil ye Kyun Ahsaas Karata hai.

Mar Jaaye Jo Kisi ki Yaad Me Usey Deewaana Kahte Hain Log,
To Phir Marey Jo Har Lamha Kisi ke Liye Wo Kya Kahlaata hai.

Chahey Laakh Khafa Rahun Tujhse Main Teri Kisi Baat Se Lekin,
Dekhta Hun Jaise hi Soorat Teri To Phir Pyaar Aa Jaata hai.

Peeye Itne Ashq Teri Aankhon Se Maine Ki ab To Ye Aalam hai,
Ki Udhar Jab Roti Tu hai To Idhar ‘Aatif’ Aansun Bahaata hai.

“TERI AANKHEN” (YOUR EYES)

“TERI  AANKHEN”

Teri Aankhen Bhula Detin hain Mujhe Zindagi ke Saare Gham,

Jaise Laga detin hon Ye Mere Puraane  Zakhmon  pe  Marham.

Udhar  Jaate  Hain Log  Nashe  Ki  Firaaq me  Maikhaane  me,

Idhar Dekh  ke Aankhen Teri  Nashe Me Jhoom Lete hain hum.

Na  Mila  yun Nazrein Apni  Sharbati  Aankhon  se Tu Mujh se,

Ki Tera yun Nazrein Milaana dhaata hai  Mujhpe Kitne  Sitam.

Gar  Naapa Jaaye  Samandar Aur Teri Aankhon ki Gahraai ko,

To  hai  Daava Mera ki  Samandar  Ki  Gahraai  Niklegi  Kam.

Nahi  Khaata Apni  Sabse  Pyaari Cheez  Ki Jhooti  Qasam  koi,

To Karta hun Waada Wafa Ka Khake Teri  Aankhon ki Qasam.

Chahey ‘Aatif’ Khuda se Ki Aakhri Waqt Mohlat Miley bas Itni,

Ki Choom Sakun Aankhen Teri Taki Aaraam se Nikle Mera Dam.

Romantic Ghazal###”KAASH”###

My new Ghazal —> “KAASH…..” (a Romantic Ghazal)

Kaash Aisa Ho jaye Ki sochun Tujhe aur Tu Qareeb Aa Jaaye,
Aur phir bataun Tujhe ki Kaise Maine Tere Baghair Din Bitaaye.

Kaash Tujh se Judaai Ka Dard Kuchh Is Tarah se Bahar Aaaye,
Ki Ro Sakun Main Sukoon Se Kaandhey Pe Tere Sar Jhukaaye.

Kaash Kholun Jab Aankh Har Subah To Saamne Tu Nazar Aaye,
Jaanta hun Ye Mumkin Nahi Par Is Dil ko Kaun Samjhaaye.

Kaash Meri Ye Tamanna bhi bahut Jald hi Poori Ho jaaye,
Ki Phailin Hon Baahein Meri aur Tu Aake Isme Sama Jaaye.

Kaash Mere Jism Par Pade Zakhm Kuch is Tarah Bhar Jaayein,
Ki Choomti Rahe Tu Mujhe Aur Mere Zakhm Bhartey Jaayein.

Kaash De Hisaab Taqdeer un Tamaam Aansuon Ka Mujhe,
Jo Tujhe Paane Ki Tadap Me Maine Raat-Din Bahaaye.

Kaash Tere Liye Mere Dard ko dekh Khuda bhi Poochhe ek din,
Ki Aey ‘Aatif’ Kisi Ke Liye Itna Dard Tum kahan se Laaye?

Ghazal##”LO IZHAAR KAR DIYA MAINE”###

A Romantic Ghazal
Title:-“….LO IZHAAR KAR DIYA MAINE”

Kitni Mehnat se Aaj Puraani Yaadon ko Darkinaar Kar diya Maine,
Utha ke Khanjar Apney hi Kalejey pe Vaar Kar diya Maine.

Kab se Aas Lagaye Baitha tha Is Ghadi ke Intezaar me koi,
Dekhkar Shiddat Uski Lo Aaj khatm wo Intezaar Kar diya Maine,

Nahi Guzaari Ja sakti poori Zaindagi Yaadon ke Sahaare kisi Ke,
Lo Aaj Iske Liye bhi Khud Ko Tayyaar Kar diya Maine.

Chhaai hui thi ek Ajab si Veeraani Zindagi me Meri,
Thaam ke Haath Tera Lo Zindagi ko Bahaar Kar diya Maine.

Hua karti thi Meri har ek Cheez Aur kisi ki Amaanat Kabhi,
Lo Aaaj Apna sab kuchh Tujh hi Pe Nisaar Kar diya Maine.

Na jaane kaise Kar Liya Faisla Tujhe Apna banane ka maine,
Shayad dekhkar Deewangi Teri Aisa BeIkhteyaar Kar diya Maine.

Ab Tak nahi Hone di thi Zaahir ‘Aatif’ ne Apni Mohabbat kabhi,
Lo Aaj Jhuka Ke Sir Apna Tere Aagey IZHAAR KAR DIYA MAINE.
